2022 School of Art and Design Graduating Exhibition

Each year, the ANU School of Art and Design (SOAD) hosts a graduating exhibition to display the outgoing cohort’s works. I developed a 2022 SOAD Graduate show webpage that promotes and celebrates each graduate’s work, utilising HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create the working site.

Applications Used: Visual Studio Code

The Graduates A-Z page features a large coloured header, which is consistent across all pages. The jump-to-links provide easy access to student profiles, directly linking to the student’s last name. The hover feature accentuates the user’s letter selection. All images are greyscale until the user hovers over them to ensure each student is individually focused on. When the image is hovered over, an <overlay> feature allows the graduate’s name and coloured work to display – a hidden signifier. Users can access student profiles by selecting the graduate’s name.

The Graduates by Technique page lists all graduate techniques alphabetically, and are easily identified through a text colour hover function. The techniques and jump-to-link all have a hover state of a red background with pink text to keep the colour scheme consistent across all pages.

The Support our Graduates page, Acknowledgements page and Contact Us page are all content-heavy pages that follow the same layout. The bold heading stretches across the width of the page to attract the audience’s attention. All secondary text is centred to the left and distinguished by bold and red-coloured headings.
